Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission Revises Tariffs: Hike for Consumers, Farmers Exempted, Latest News: Electricity consumers in Haryana will now have to pay more as the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced an increase in electricity tariffs, effective April 1.

The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has announced a hike of 20-40 paise per unit. Haryana's power corporations have suffered 4,520 crore rupees in losses, and the increase aims to recover some of these financial losses. The last tariff revision took place three years ago.

The new rates will impact 81 lakh electricity consumers across the state. However, farmers are exempt from the hike, as it applies only to general consumers. The government will continue to provide electricity subsidies to farmers.

According to a report by Babushahi, the revised electricity rates have been detailed in its latest coverage.
 

For Farmers:
•    Unit price: 7.35 rupees (up from rupees 6.48)
•    Impact: No extra cost for farmers, as the government continues to charge only 10 paise per unit (subsidy increased).
For Domestic Consumers:
•    Up to 150 units: 30 rupees more per bill cycle.
•    151-300 units: New unified slab; some consumers may pay less than before.
For Industries:
•    High-tension supply: Up 30-35 paise per unit
•    Low-tension (LT) supply: Up 10-15 paise per unit
•    Bulk supply: Up 40 paise per unit
•    11 kV supply: 6.65 → 6.95 rupees per unit
•    33 kV supply: 6.55 → 6.85 rupees per unit
Additional Charges:
•    Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA): 47 paise per unit (continues until 2026).
•    Above 200 units: Extra rupees 94.47 per bill.
•    Up to 200 units: No extra FSA charge.

Relief for Farmers with Metered Connections-Minimum charges reduced from 200 to 180 rupees per BHP (Brake Horsepower) per year.
