Spokesman News Service, Chandigarh, October 26: The Government agencies and private millers have procured 6433204 metric tonnes of Paddy in Punjab till October 25 while payment worth Rs. 7889.14 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman of the Government of Punjab informed that out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the State, the Government agencies procured 6376543 MT of paddy while 56661 MT has been procured by the millers.
Giving the details, the spokesman said that PUNGRAIN has procured 2159739 tonnes, MARKFED 1495402 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 1284166 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation procured 648579 and 667754 MT paddy respectively. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 120903 MT paddy.
