Punjab and Chandigarh Earthquake Today: Punjab witnessed earthquake tremors on Monday in several parts of the state. It has been reported that the earthquake has hit Afghanistan with a magnitude of 5.8.
According to information, the tremors were felt at around 12:21 pm. In the meantime, the National Center for Seismology stated: "EQ of M: 5.8, On: 19/04/2025 12:17:53 IST, Lat: 36.10 N, Long: 71.20 E, Depth: 130 Km, Location: Afghanistan."
What should be done to avoid an earthquake?
To avoid earthquakes, houses should be built with earthquake-resistant materials. A house should not be built higher than 2-3 floors. Apart from soil test, other things should also be taken care of before building a house.
Things to do and avoid during an earthquake:
- Do not use the elevator during an earthquake; use the stairs instead of the elevator to exit.
- If you are stuck somewhere, don't run away.
- If you are driving a vehicle, stop it immediately.
- If you are driving, stop the car on the side of the road away from the bridge.
- In the event of an earthquake, immediately move to a safe and open area.
- In the event of an earthquake, move away from heavy objects placed on top of windows, shelves, fans, etc.
