Spokesman News Service, Chandigarh, 16th Oct'18: The Government agencies and private millers have procured 1393178 metric tonnes of Paddy in Punjab till October 15 while payment worth Rs. 726.27 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government. Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman of the Government of Punjab informed that out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the State, the Government agencies procured 1361681 MT of paddy while 31497 MT has been procured by the millers.
Giving the details, the spokesman said that PUNGRAIN had procured 434896 tonnes, MARKFED 341551 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 281475 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation procured 135174 and 145347 MT paddy respectively. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 23238 MT paddy.
