Fatehgarh Sahib News: Nihang Chopped Off Youth's Hands With Sword, Accuses Him of Drug Use

Fatehgarh Sahib Nihang Attack Latest News Today: A horrifying act of violence shocked residents of Master Colony in Mandi Gobindgarh on Monday when a man dressed in Nihang attire brutally chopped off both hands of a local youth with a sword. The victim, identified as Jatin, is in critical condition and has been referred to PGIMER Sector-32, Chandigarh, after initial treatment at the Civil Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the attacker—a youth reportedly donning traditional Nihang robes—had long been intimidating local residents under the guise of moral policing, frequently accusing area youths of drug abuse. Jatin became his latest target, and the assault has since sparked outrage and fear throughout the neighborhood.

Local sources reveal that the accused has a history of controversial behavior and had previously been involved in a confrontation at a dhaba in Sirhind. Residents allege that he would often roam the area, brandishing his sword and threatening individuals at will.

Sub-Inspector Dharampal Singh of Mandi Gobindgarh police confirmed the incident and said, “We have taken the victim’s statement and are collecting further evidence. A case is being registered under relevant sections, and the accused will be arrested shortly.”

This act of vigilantism has drawn widespread condemnation from the community, with locals demanding strict action and calling for accountability to prevent similar acts of extremism in the name of tradition or religious garb.

A heavy police presence has since been deployed in the area to calm tensions and ensure public safety. Meanwhile, authorities are urging residents to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.

As the victim battles for his life, the case raises urgent questions about unchecked violence, misuse of religious identity, and the rising trend of street justice under the pretext of moral cleansing.
