AGTF Punjab, Ferozepur Police Arrest ‘Ashish Chopra Gang’ Members; Recover Heroin
In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, acting on intelligence inputs, has arrested two members of the ‘Ashish Chopra Gang’ from Ferozepur district and recovered 205 grams of heroin from their possession, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.
The AGTF made the arrests in a joint operation with Ferozepur Police. The arrested accused have been identified as Rashpal alias Sewak, a resident of village Kunde in Ferozepur, and Rajiv alias Jassa, a resident of village Bare Ke in Ferozepur.
According to the preliminary investigation, the arrested duo were allegedly in contact with Yuvi, a shooter of the Ashish Chopra Gang and wanted in the Ashu Monga murder case, which took place in Ferozepur in May 2025, the DGP said. Further investigations are underway.
Details of the Operation:
Police teams from AGTF, led by DSP AGTF Rajan Parminder, in coordination with Ferozepur Police, arrested both the accused while acting on reliable inputs, said Promod Ban, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF, according to the release by Punjab government.
They were arrested near the railway crossing at village Madhre in Ferozepur. One of the accused, Rashpal Singh, also has a criminal background involving several cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act violations, said SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, the press release added.
Further investigation is underway, the SSP added.
In this regard, an FIR No. 319 dated 01.11.2025 has been registered under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Ferozepur, it further added.
The crackdown is part of the Punjab government’s ongoing drive to make the state safe and secure, as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
