67% Women See Pay Parity at Workplaces, But 33% Report Pay Gap: Naukri Survey
A majority of women professionals in India believe pay parity exists at their workplaces, though a significant section still reports disparities, according to a Naukri.com report released on Saturday. The findings are based on responses from 50,000 women across more than 50 industries.
The survey found that 67 percent of respondents feel men and women are paid equally in their organisations, while 33 percent believe a pay gap still exists.
The report also highlights workplace concerns beyond salaries. Nearly half of the women surveyed said they hesitate to discuss personal plans during job interviews. Around 34 percent cited fear of discrimination as the main reason.
Despite these concerns, many respondents expressed confidence about career growth. According to the report, 83 percent of women said they feel encouraged to pursue leadership roles, compared with 66 percent in the previous year.
However, perceptions of pay disparity remain stronger in certain industries. Sectors where women most strongly reported pay gaps include:
- Real estate: 42 percent
- FMCG: 38 percent
- Pharma and life sciences: 38 percent
- Automobile sector: 37 percent
Other industries where women reported wage inequality include retail, hospitality, IT services, telecom, healthcare, and oil and gas, where 33–35 percent respondents said pay differences exist.
The report also noted rising demand for workplace reforms. Demand for equal pay audits and menstrual leave has increased from 19 percent last year to 27 percent, reaching 48 percent among higher-income professionals.
