Both the mother and the newborn are safe.

Punjab News: At around 10 am, a woman delivered a baby inside a train at Cantt Railway Station. The incident occurred when train number 15656, Kamakhya Express, halted at the station.

The woman, identified as Punita Devi, was travelling in coach B-5 with her husband Raj Kumar and their two children from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Kaptanganj in Uttar Pradesh. During the journey, she went into labour and delivered the baby inside the train.

At the time, GRP ASI Ashok Kumar, ASI Rajvinder Singh, ASI Aas Mohammad, and lady constable Surekha Rani were present on platforms number two and three for checking duty. After receiving information, a railway doctor was called to the spot.

The woman and her family were deboarded from the train, and the mother and newborn were given primary medical treatment. An ambulance was arranged, and both were taken to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, for further treatment.

Both the mother and the newborn are safe, as per information received.
