The charges against Tytler include Sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment), and 302 (murder) of the IPC, among others.

1984 Anti-Sikh Riots Case: In a significant development, Congress leader Jagdish Tytler was charged by a Delhi Court on Friday, August 30, with rioting, abetment, culpable homicide, and unlawful assembly in connection with the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots.

The Rouse Avenue Court determined that there is sufficient evidence to frame charges against Tytler under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 143, 153A, 188, 149, and 302. These charges stem from a supplementary chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The case involves the killing of three Sikhs and the arson at Gurudwara Pul Bangash in 1984, following the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In its May 2023 chargesheet, the CBI accused Tytler of "inciting, instigating, and provoking the mob" that gathered near the Pul Bangash gurdwara on November 1, 1984.

In August 2023, a sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Tytler, requiring him to post a personal bond of ₹1 lakh along with a surety of the same amount.

The charges against Tytler include Sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment), and 302 (murder) of the IPC, among others.
