The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA ) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday said India has received requests for the supply of energy from neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.
Answering a media query on updates regarding energy assistance to neighbouring countries, the MEA spokesperson said, “We have received a request from Bangladesh for the supply of diesel, which we are examining.”
He added that India has been exporting refined petroleum products to Bangladesh since 2007 from the Numaligarh Refinery through waterways, rail, and the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline.

“While diesel exports have largely continued since 2017 under a sale-purchase agreement with the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, our refining capacity, domestic requirements, and diesel availability will be considered before taking a decision,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson further stated that India has also received similar requests from Sri Lanka and the Maldives, which he said are being examined while keeping India’s own energy needs in mind.
