Funeral Procession of Ex-Serviceman Killed in Police Firing During Ladakh Violence Latest News: The funeral procession of the ex-serviceman killed in police firing during the Ladakh violence was held today amid heightened security in Leh town, Ladakh.

The 46-year-old, Tsewang Tharchin, was an ex-serviceman who had fought in the Kargil War.

Tharchin served as a Havildar in the Ladakh Scouts, a specialized mountain infantry regiment of the Indian Army, from 1996 to 2017.

“My son was a patriot. He fought in the Kargil War and was at the front for three months. He fought the Pakistanis at Dah Top and Tololing; Pakistanis could not kill him, but our own forces have taken his life,” Tharchin’s father, Stanzin Namgyal, is quoted as saying in an India Today report.

His father, Stanzin Namgyal, also served in the Indian Army for over 30 years and has received commendations from the Chief of Army Staff.

Tharchin, along with three others, was killed on 24 September 2025 in CRPF and police firing when Ladakh’s years of peaceful protest turned violent, setting the local BJP office and the hill council office.

21-year-old Rinchen Dadul, who was also killed in the Leh violence on the same day in the police firing, was laid to rest amid curfew today. 

Meanwhile, a strict curfew continues in Leh and has entered its 6th day. 

Leh Apex Body, on Monday, announced that it will stay away from talks with the High Powered Committee of the Home Ministry till normalcy is restored in Ladakh.
