Ladakh Announces Cancellation of Last Day of Ladakh Festival 2025, Ladakh Violence Update: The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has cancelled the last day and closing ceremony of the ongoing Ladakh Festival 2025 in the wake of the violence that broke out in the UT earlier today, after a peaceful protest turned violent.
“The Administration deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to all stakeholders, including local artists, cultural troupes, tourists, and the people of Ladakh who were eagerly looking forward to the event,” the notice read.
The Administration has appealed to the public for their cooperation and understanding.
According to the notice, the Ladakh Festival serves as a valuable platform for young, budding artists from the region to showcase their talent and develop their skills, aiming to promote and strengthen the tourism sector across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Additionally, the upcoming Himalayan Adventure Festival 2025, scheduled from 26th to 28th September 2025, has also been cancelled, Ladakh Bikers Union said in a statement.
“The decision has been taken in solidarity with the ongoing People’s Movement for Ladakh. We strongly believe that the cause of Ladakh must always come first, and we fully respect the sentiments of the people who are unitedly raising their voices for the 4-Point Agenda Demand of Ladakh,” it added.
“In this crucial time, we choose to stand with our people rather than hold celebrations, reaffirming that our collective identity and future are far more important than any event. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and deeply thank you for your understanding and continued support,” the statement further read.
A major violence broke out in Leh district of the Union Territory of Ladakh after a peaceful protest in solidarity with the demand for the inclusion of Ladakh under the sixth schedule of Ladakh and its demand for statehood, turned violent today.
