Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary: Floral tributes were paid to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 108th birth anniversary at Central Hall in the Parliament today.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, and other leaders paid the tribute.
Late Indira Gandhi's grandson on Rahul Gandhi, paid tribute in a post on X. He wrote, "The inspiration to make fearless decisions for India and to always prioritize the nation's interest in every situation has come to me from my grandmother. Her courage, patriotism, and ethics continue to give me the courage to stand firmly against injustice even today."
Leader of opposition in the upper house, and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge paid his homage in a post on X, saying Indira's "ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation deserves a million salutations."
"The exemplary and the dynamic leadership of Smt. Indira Gandhi, showing immense political courage, shall forever remain an inspiration. Her unwavering resolve and lifelong dedication to public service left an indelible mark on India’s journey of progress. Her ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation deserves a million salutations. On her birth anniversary, we offer our respectful homage to her enduring legacy," Kharge wrote.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made a post on X on the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi, however, the post is, if not the shortest, among the shortest the PM has ever made to anyone to date.
