Now, he has moved to court again seeking 21-day parole for an event in Dera premises.

Dera sacha sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan was sentenced 20 years of prison for raping two of his disciples and a life time imprisonment for murdering a journalist.

Between October 24, 2020, and January 19, 2024, Ram Rahim, the leader of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect, was granted temporary release from prison on several occasions. 
Initially, he received a one-day parole on October 24, 2020, to visit his ailing mother in a Gurgaon hospital, followed by a 12-hour parole on May 21, 2021, for the same purpose.

In February 2022, he was granted a 21-day furlough to reunite with his family. Later, in June 2022, he obtained a 30-day parole to reside at his Dera Sacha Sauda Ashram in Barnawa, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. 

Notably, on October 14, 2022, he secured a 40-day parole to stay in Barnawa, Baghpat, where he released three music videos on his YouTube channel. Subsequently, on January 21, 2023, he was granted another 40-day parole to virtually participate in a religious fest at the Dera Headquarters in Sirsa.

Additional temporary releases were granted on July 20, 2023, for 30 days, on November 20, 2023, for 21 days, and on January 19, 2024, for 50 days.

These temporary releases have been met with controversy and legal scrutiny, reflecting the complex nature of Ram Rahim's interactions with the legal system and public perception.

Now, he has moved to court again seeking 21-day parole for an event in Dera premises. He has sent an application for the same to the Haryana government.
