Small sugar prices recovered at the Vashi wholesale market here today following renewed demand from stockists and bulk consumers. Elsewhere, medium sugar firmed up owing to rising demand from stockists and retailers. Small sugar (S-30) rebounded by Rs 20/17 per quintal to Rs 2,770/2,842 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,750/2,825. Medium sugar (M-30) gained further by Rs 12 per quintal to Rs 2,850/3,012 as against Rs 2,850/3,000.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,770/2,842 (Rs 2,750/2,825).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,850/2,3012 (Rs 2,850/3,000).
