He told, "There was a time when I was in depression and started drinking a lot of alcohol." This was the time when his film 'Jaan Tere Naam' was released in 1992. The film did well and it earned well at the box office. But despite this, there was no work for him.

Ronit said, 'I have cured myself in a few years. I wanted to be a star. When I started failing on screen, I realized that I am not a star, but now I need to focus on becoming an actor. Ronit also told that he was very inspired by the fan following of Rajesh Khanna.
