India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final against New Zealand not only created history on the field but also set a major digital viewership record on JioHotstar. According to available data, the live streaming of the final witnessed an unprecedented surge in viewership, with 74.5 crore people watching simultaneously when New Zealand’s final wicket fell during the match.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, securing the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title for the third time and registering a second consecutive triumph in the tournament. The thrilling contest attracted massive attention from cricket fans across the country and around the world.

The number of viewers on the streaming platform steadily increased as the match progressed. Even before the start of the game, millions of viewers had already tuned in to watch the pre-match ceremony. During the opening performance by singer Ricky Martin, the live stream recorded around 2.1 crore viewers. By the time the toss took place, the number had doubled to about 4.2 crore.

Viewership continued to rise throughout the match and peaked dramatically near the end of the contest. When the final wicket fell in the 19th over, securing India’s comprehensive victory, the concurrent viewership touched 74.5 crore. The number climbed further during the post-match presentation ceremony, reaching around 79.1 crore viewers on the platform.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian team, praising their exceptional skill, determination and teamwork throughout the tournament.
