Russia Monitoring Reported Positioning of U.S. Nuclear Weapons in U.K.
Russia on Tuesday said it was observing an escalation in international tensions and is closely monitoring developments after The Times and The Telegraph newspapers in Britain reported that the United States had positioned nuclear weapons in the United Kingdom for the first time since 2008, Reuters reported.
“We see a line towards the escalation of tensions, towards militarisation, including nuclear militarisation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked about the reports, according to the Reuters report.
“Our relevant departments are monitoring developments in this area and formulating measures to ensure our security against the backdrop of what is happening,” he added.
