‘Hind Di Chadar’ at Kartavya Path: Punjab’s Tableau Honours Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th Martyrdom Year 

Punjab’s tableau at the 77th Republic Day parade today commemorated the 350th martyrdom year of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. According to the report, the display was designed to reflect a blend of spirituality and the spirit of selfless sacrifice.

The tableau’s tractor section featured a symbolic hand radiating a spiritual aura to represent the Guru’s humanitarian vision. At the forefront, a revolving inscription of “Ek Onkar” (God is One) conveyed the universal truth of Sikh philosophy. The hand was draped in a cloth inscribed with the title “Hind Di Chadar,” symbolizing the Guru’s role as a shield for the oppressed.

The trailer section created a divine atmosphere with Raagi Singhs performing ‘Shabad Kirtan’ against the backdrop of a Khanda Sahib monument. This scene represented the historic chowk outside Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi. The tableau also featured a replica of the Gurudwara itself as a witness to his sacrifice for human dignity. The side panels portrayed the supreme sacrifices of the Guru’s devoted companions- Bhai Mati Dass, Bhai Sati Dass, and Bhai Dyala. 

Collectively, the tableau honored a spiritual legacy that transcends regional and religious boundaries, highlighting Punjab’s commitment to the ideals of justice and human dignity.
