Chandigarh : The Sports Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has extended congratulations to the men’s rowing team of the country for winning Gold medal at the Asian Games currently underway in Jakarta (Indonesia). The team comprising of Swaran Singh Virk, Sukhmeet Singh, Dattu Bhokanal and Om Prakash won the coveted Gold medal in Men’s Quadruple Sculls event today. Of these, Sukhmeet Singh and Swaran Singh Virk hail from the Mansa District.
The minister said that both Swaran Singh Virk and Sukhmeet Singh have done Punjab proud. He further elaborated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to spruce up the sports infrastructure throughout the State besides providing every facility to the players right from their young age so as to produce more winners at the international events.
