Major Gurcharan Singh Assumes PESCO Chair, Promises Enhanced Welfare for Punjab Ex-Servicemen

Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh (Retd) assumed office as the Chairman of the Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) on Wednesday. A seasoned veteran, he served in the Army for 21 years, gaining operational experience in counter-insurgency operations and jungle warfare.

Following his retirement, Major Singh has remained actively involved in initiatives aimed at the welfare and support of ex-servicemen, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to nation-building and public service. His efforts reflect a sustained commitment to enhancing the lives of former armed forces personnel and their families.

Upon taking charge of PESCO, Major Singh pledged to further strengthen welfare measures, expand employment opportunities, and improve support systems for ex-servicemen and their families throughout the state.

The ceremony in Chandigarh saw the presence of Punjab Cabinet Ministers Mohinder Bhagat, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, and Dr Balbir Singh, along with PESCO Managing Director Major General Harmandeep Singh (Retd) and other senior defence officials and dignitaries.

PESCO, a government undertaking of Punjab, works to ensure the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows, disabled personnel, and their families. The corporation aims to provide post-retirement employment to Punjab-domiciled ex-servicemen near their hometowns and leverage their experience in delivering services across state institutions and the corporate sector.
