Efforts are underway to resolve the issue: Superintending Engineer of the CHP

RUPNAGAR: Despite two days having passed since the rain ceased, the Guru Gobind Singh Thermal Plant in Rupnagar has been unable to resume power generation, while the electricity demand in the state has soared to over 13,000 MW.

Sources report that the control room of the Coal Handling Plant (CHP) has also been affected by the inundation of rainwater near the thermal plant in Rupnagar. Officials and employees are diligently working to ensure the smooth operation of the handling plant's machinery, but as of Thursday afternoon, none of the units at the thermal plant have been able to commence operations.

Pramod Sharma, the Superintending Engineer of the CHP, assured that efforts are underway to resolve the issue. He stated that the problem has been identified and will be resolved soon. It is expected that Unit 6 will be operational by evening.

The delay in resuming power generation at the Guru Gobind Singh Thermal Plant has raised concerns due to the surging electricity demand in the state. With the demand exceeding 13,000 MW, the power supply situation has become a matter of urgency. The authorities are working tirelessly to rectify the situation and restore the functioning of the thermal plant to meet the growing energy needs of the state.
