Her confrontation with the authorities further inflamed the situation, drawing sharp political attention.

Ludhiana West Bypoll 2025 Today Latest News: The Ludhiana West Assembly by-election took a dramatic turn on Thursday morning when chaos erupted at polling booth number 72 following allegations of vote tampering by a woman voter. The incident has raised serious concerns over the integrity of the electoral process.

The situation escalated when a female voter vocally claimed that her vote had been mishandled. Her allegations immediately drew a crowd, particularly of Congress supporters, who began shouting slogans against the police, accusing them of collusion with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Mamta Ashu, wife of Congress candidate and former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, was present at the booth and engaged in a heated altercation with police officials. She accused the police of acting in a partisan manner and siding with AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora, who was also present at the scene when the incident unfolded.

“There are irregularities happening, and instead of listening to voters’ complaints, the police are intimidating Congress workers,” Mamta Ashu alleged. Her confrontation with the authorities further inflamed the situation, drawing sharp political attention.

AAP's Sanjeev Arora, already facing criticism for being an “outsider” candidate, has yet to respond to the incident publicly. However, the presence of both rival candidates at the same polling station amid a sensitive vote has added fuel to political tensions.

The Election Commission has not yet released an official statement, but sources within the administration have confirmed that the district election officer has been directed to submit a detailed report.

With 1.74 lakh voters casting ballots to determine the fate of 14 candidates, the bypoll has been closely watched. The results are scheduled to be declared on June 23. This controversy may now overshadow the campaign promises and impact voter perception ahead of the final count.

As accusations fly and tensions rise, all eyes are now on the Election Commission to ensure transparency and fairness in the concluding phases of this high-stakes bypoll.
