Parkash Singh Badal passed away at Fortis Hospital in Mohali at the age of 95

NEW-DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended condolences on the demise of former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, "Extremely saddened by the passing away of Shri Parkash Singh Badal Ji. He was a colossal figure of Indian politics, and a remarkable statesman who contributed greatly to our nation. He worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab and anchored the state through critical times."

Parkash Singh Badal passed away on Tuesday at Fortis Hospital in Mohali at the age of 95. His condition was very critical and was kept in ICU. He breathed his last during treatment.

As per the reports, Parkash Singh Badal was suffering from breathing problem. Badal is survived by son and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and daughter Parneet Kaur, who is married to former cabinet minister Adeish Partap Singh Kairon. Notably, Badal's mortal remains are placed at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) head office in Chandigarh from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday. After that, the mortal remains will be taken to Badal village in Muktsar district. The cremation will take place at Badal village on Thursday.
