Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stressed the need to strengthen the link between India’s education system and the changing demands of the economy, highlighting the growing importance of emerging technologies in shaping the country’s future workforce.

Speaking at a webinar on the Union Budget 2026–27, the Prime Minister said greater focus is required on areas such as Artificial Intelligence, automation, the digital economy and design-based manufacturing. 

Modi said India is steadily moving toward an innovation-driven economy and emphasized the importance of stronger coordination between education, skill development and industry to support this transition.

Referring to the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister said the country is progressing with a vision of preventive and holistic healthcare. He noted that health infrastructure has been strengthened in recent years through the opening of new medical colleges in several districts and the expansion of services under Ayushman Bharat.

The Prime Minister has been participating in a series of webinars in recent days to discuss proposals outlined in the Union Budget 2026–27. The Budget was presented in Parliament on February 1, and the latest session was organised as part of this initiative.
