Amit Shah Orders Inter-State Coordination to Wipe Out Naxalism by March 31

With the March 31, 2026, deadline for eliminating Naxalism just 53 days away, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for heightened vigilance to ensure surviving insurgents do not escape into neighbouring states. During a high-level security review meeting on Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) held in Chhattisgarh’s capital on Sunday, Shah said that the movement is currently on its last legs.

The Home Minister emphasised that the ongoing offensive must remain focused and unified. He stressed the necessity of seamless coordination between central agencies and various state governments to prevent Naxals from fleeing across state borders. According to Shah, the combined strategy of security-centric operations, disruption of financial networks, and the government’s surrender policy has produced successful results.

Beyond security measures, Shah highlighted the "remarkable progress" made in Chhattisgarh regarding both regional development and safety. He asserted that residents in areas previously affected by Naxalism must be provided with equal opportunities for growth.

The meeting saw participation from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and IB Director Tapan Deka. Also in attendance were the Directors General of the CRPF, NIA, BSF, and ITBP, alongside Home Secretaries and police chiefs from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra.
