A 27-year-old pregnant woman was carried by her relatives in a makeshift stretcher for at least seven km at backward Attapady tribal hamlet to a hospital, where she delivered a baby girl. Since no ambulance was available, she was carried in the stretcher made of a bedsheet tied to logs, hospital sources said.
