This recruitment drive comes after a gap of 10 years and aims to address the manpower shortage in the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department.

According to the report, the decision to fill these posts was taken during the Cabinet meeting held on May 31.

The spokesperson stated that no recruitment of Home Guards had been conducted over the past several years. This prolonged gap led to a significant shortage of personnel, affecting the department’s ability to meet deployment demands from various departments, boards, and corporations.
