Shimla's Sanjauli Illegal Mosque Controversy, Himachal Pradesh latest news today: In a developing controversy in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla, clashes broke out on Wednesday as locals protested against what they claim to be an illegal mosque in the Sanjauli area. 

The protests turned chaotic when demonstrators confronted the police, leading to the use of water cannons and a lathi-charge to control the crowd.

According to visuals, protestors removed barricades and attempted to move toward the mosque, leading to a tense standoff with security forces near the Dhalli Tunnel East portal, as reported by ANI. The protests were organized primarily by Hindu groups, demanding action against the alleged unauthorized construction of the mosque.

In response, a large police presence had been set up around the Dhalli Tunnel East in anticipation of the protests. Members of Hindu organizations, including the Civil Society Devbhoomi Sangathan, participated, in waving the national flag and chanting slogans.

Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh addressed the situation, urging that the demonstrations should not disturb peace in the region. He also assured that the state government would investigate and take necessary steps if the mosque was found to be illegally constructed.
