Tejashwi Yadav’s Wife Delivers Baby in Kolkata latest news: The wife of opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav gave birth to their child on Tuesday in a private hospital in Kolkata. However, their decision to opt for a normal delivery in Kolkata has sparked a major debate over the state of Bihar’s healthcare system.

Tejashwi’s wife, Rajshri Yadav, had reportedly been staying in Kolkata for the past nine months and was even blessed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, according to a report by The Times of India.

Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh, State Secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bihar State Branch, was quoted in the report as saying that decisions like this—by prominent political families—diminish the confidence of the common people in state-run hospitals, despite Bihar having “very good health facilities” and “quality doctors.”

“The health facilities in the state are very good, and Bihar has quality doctors. Still, if people go outside the state for a normal delivery, it is very shocking,” said Dr. Singh.

“I don’t know why she (Tejashwi’s wife) got admitted to a hospital in Kolkata, but this has indirectly sent a message to the common people that health facilities in Bihar are alarming. It conveys the impression that ‘Yahan ki vyavastha theek nahin hai (The system here is not okay),’” he added.

Former IMA president Dr. Ajay Kumar said, 'Instead' of setting an example for the common people, 'their actions have raised a question mark over the quality of healthcare available in Bihar.'

However, the report, citing a source close to the Lalu family, said that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s wife was shifted to Kolkata to avoid the possibility of a large crowd gathering at the hospital in Patna.
