Google Adds Gemini AI to Chrome in India, Supports 50+ Languages
Users in India will soon see new artificial intelligence-powered tools inside the Google Chrome browser as Google announced the introduction of built-in AI capabilities aimed at improving how people search for and understand information online.
The company said the new features are designed to make web browsing more useful and secure by integrating artificial intelligence directly into Chrome. The tools are expected to help users find information more efficiently while enhancing their overall browsing experience.
According to Google, India is among the first markets outside the United States where these capabilities are being introduced, highlighting the country’s growing role in the adoption of emerging technologies.
The AI tools are powered by Google’s latest model, Gemini, which has been developed to assist users in discovering and understanding online content more effectively.
Google said the features will support more than 50 languages globally, including several Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil.
Initially, the AI-powered tools in Chrome will be rolled out on desktop devices and Apple’s iOS platform.
Sharmeen D’Silva, Director of Product Management for Chrome, said integrating artificial intelligence directly into the browser is intended to make the internet experience more proactive and easier for users while ensuring a safer and more helpful browsing environment.
