Delhi Police: Expired Food items sold accross India, Seven arrest for running the racket

Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested seven accused in a major breakthrough, busting a highly organised racket involved in the illegal import of expired international-branded food products, manipulation of manufacturing and expiry dates, printing of fake barcodes, and repackaging expired items for sale as genuine products across India, ANI reported. 

In visuals from the raid shared by India today, a machine is allegedly used to alter expiry dates and print barcodes.

It added that the racket was being operated mainly from the Delhi NCR region. During the raids, the police reportedly recovered large quantities of expired food items, including chocolates, baby products, groceries, and cold drinks.

Delhi police have seized the products. Further investigations are underway.
