Agriculture News: "Less rain, increasing temperature" is a matter of concern for farmers

The best temperature for now should be around 30 degrees Celsius, says a farmer from Jalandhar.

Agriculture News: Farmers planting paddy in Jalandhar are worried as the temperature continues to rise and there has been very little rain so far, in July.

Sukhwinder Singh, a farmer from Puranpur village, said that due to the maximum temperature (around 35 degrees Celsius), the upper branches of the paddy have started drying up.

"The best temperature for now should be around 30 degrees Celsius. It's been cloudy every day, but there has been very little rain. We have to use tubewells to irrigate our fields," the farmer said.

Farmers fear that if there is no rain for a long time, they will not get a good harvest. Kashmir Singh, a farmer of Jandiala village, said, "The tips of the paddy are withering. The growth of the paddy has stopped. We need to be very careful. Due to the high temperature, the risk of diseases in the crop is high."

Salvinder Singh of Jania village in Shahkot said that "Last year our crops were washed away in floods. Now the weather is completely dry. We depend on tubewells to irrigate our fields."
