Chandigarh: The city of Chandigarh is facing major traffic snarls as farmers advance toward it under the 'Chandigarh Chalo' banner, led by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM). Authorities have rolled out traffic advisories and rerouting plans to cope with the disruption and ensure public safety.

Ahead of the protest kicking off today, Chandigarh Traffic Police have ramped up efforts to manage the flow of vehicles. Security has been tightened at multiple entry points, with police forces stationed and barricades erected to handle the incoming demonstrators and maintain order.

The SKM’s march follows failed talks with the Punjab government over unresolved issues. A recent sit-down with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann collapsed, with farmer leaders claiming he walked out prematurely. The group has now launched a week-long demonstration in Chandigarh, starting March 5, demanding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and full debt relief for farmers.
