Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed grief in a post on X, calling Dharmendra's demise “extremely heartbreaking”

As legendary actor Dharmendra Deol passed away on Monday, tributes poured in from across the country, including from top political leaders. Among those who mourned his demise were Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

Home Minister Amit Shah called Dharmendra’s passing an “irreplaceable loss” for the Indian film world.

In a post on X, originally written in Hindi, he stated, “With his outstanding acting, Dharmendra ji touched the hearts of every citizen for six decades. His demise is an irreplaceable loss for the Indian film world. Coming from an ordinary family, he made an indelible mark in cinema. Dharmendra ji was one of those select actors whose every character came alive, winning the hearts of millions across all age groups. Through his art, he will always remain among us. May God grant him a place at His divine feet and give strength to his family and admirers to bear this sorrow. Om Shanti.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed grief in a post on X, calling Dharmendra’s demise “extremely heartbreaking” and “an irreparable loss for the Indian art world.”

He added, “His unparalleled contribution to cinema over nearly seven decades will always be remembered with respect and love. My heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra ji. In this hour of grief, my condolences are with his bereaved family, friends, and fans.”

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta also paid tribute, describing the actor’s demise as “extremely heartbreaking.”

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said, “On behalf of the Narendra Modi government, and as the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, I pay my heartfelt tribute to him…”

President Droupadi Murmu, in her condolence message on X, wrote, “As a towering figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire young generations of artists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers."

Meanwhile, several Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, were seen arriving at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai this afternoon. A short while later, actress and wife Hema Malini, along with their daughters, was seen leaving the crematorium.
