Prashant Tamang Indian Idol Show winner Dies of Heart Attack

The 43-year-old was the winner of Indian Idol 2007.

Prashant Tamang, winner of the Indian Idol reality show, has died of a heart attack in New Delhi, according to reports.

The 43-year-old singer won Indian Idol Season 3 in 2007. He recently appeared in a brief role in the OTT series Paatal Lok.

A native of Darjeeling, Tamang lost his father at an early age. He later joined the Kolkata Police as a constable. It was during the service that he nurtured his passion for music.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her condolences to the family in a post on her X account.

She wrote, "Saddened by the sudden and untimely demise today of Prashant Tamang, the popular singer of ' Indian Idol' fame and an artist of national renown. His roots in our Darjeeling hills and one-time association with Kolkata Police made him particularly dear to us in Bengal. I convey my condolences to his family, friends, and countless followers."
