Punjab Government’s “Bill Liao Inam Pao” Scheme Delivers Rs 3.35 Crore in Prizes Latest News:Chandigarh: In a shining example of citizen-powered governance and fiscal transparency, the Punjab Government’s flagship “Bill Liao Inam Pao” scheme has emerged as a resounding success. Cheema announced that from its launch in September 2023 to July 2025, a remarkable 1,76,832 bills have been uploaded on the ‘Mera Bill’ app, leading to 5,644 winners receiving prizes worth Rs 3 crore, 35 lakhs and more.

The innovative scheme, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to encourage consumers to demand bills for purchases, thereby tightening tax enforcement and curbing evasion. Minister Cheema reported that the initiative has resulted in penalties of Rs 9,07,06,102 against violators, with Rs 7,30,92,230 already recovered. The drive has also expanded Punjab’s tax base, bringing 135 new registrations into the system.

Highlighting the latest July 2025 draw, Cheema said 6,345 bills were entered, producing 257 winners who shared Rs 15,30,015 in prize money. Winners receive direct bank transfers, ensuring quick and transparent payouts.

Urging people to continue participating, Minister Cheema said every bill uploaded not only offers a chance to win prizes but also strengthens Punjab’s economy by promoting honesty and accountability in transactions. Exclusions include bills for petroleum products, liquor, out-of-state purchases, and B2B transactions, while only bills from the preceding month are eligible.

“This initiative is proof that when citizens and government work together, we can create a cleaner, fairer, and more participatory tax system,” Cheema affirmed, lauding the AAP-led government’s focus on transparency and public engagement.
