Giani Harpreet Singh Resignation Latest News Today: In a significant turn of events, the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, has stepped down from his position, under the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), citing threats from former Shiromani Akali Dal leader Virsa Singh Valtoha, who was ordered by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to be expelled from the party. 

His resignation comes just a day after major developments surrounding Sri Akal Takht Sahib, leading to heightened tensions within Sikh religious and political circles. The sudden resignation of Giani Harpreet Singh has raised eyebrows across Punjab as it comes a day after the Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, ordered Valtoha's expulsion from the party for a period of ten years. 

Announcing his resignation, Giani Harpreet Singh cited threats from Virsa Singh Valtoha and his "baseless" allegations. He said that ever since the Singh Sahibans of Sri Akal Takht Sahib ordered Virsa's expulsion, he has been receiving several threats. 

He shared an emotional video announcing his resignation. He also alleged that he informed the SGPC about the threats that he has been receiving but no one was answering to these concerns. 

The SGPC, headquartered in Amritsar, is yet to release an official statement regarding Giani Harpreet Singh's resignation. 

The resignation of a Jathedar is a rare occurrence, and Giani Harpreet Singh’s decision marks a critical juncture in the future of Sikh religious leadership.
