Chandigarh: Terming that the issue of national food security was integral to national security the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Sunil Jakhar said that neither national security nor food security for 135 crore Indians could be handed over to Corporate sector.

In a statement issued here today, the President of Punjab Congress said that to get these new farm laws repealed, which intend to hand over farming that ensures our nation's food security, to the corporates, the Punjab Congress will support the Bharat Bandh call given by farmers organisations against the Union government.

He said that in December 8, district level protests would be held by the party across the state. Jakhar said that today farmers of the country were sitting at Delhi borders for safeguarding their farm lands and their way of living from these draconian farm laws whereas their sons were safeguarding the borders of country from any external aggression.

The President of Punjab Congress said that unfortunately despite this the union government was not ready to roll back these anti-farmers laws. He said that as a fact of matter the Union government was acting in a illegal manner and blatantly lobbying for the corporate houses instead of adressing Farmer's concerns.

He appealed the Prime Minister to listen to Mann Ki Baat of people rather than telling his own Mann Ki baat. Jakhar reiterated that the Congress party was solidly with the farmers in this hour of crisis and was opposing the anti-farmers law from day one.
