On 8th September, all government schools in the state will remain closed for students; however, teachers will be present

Punjab News, Punjab Schools, Colleges, Universities in Punjab Opening Date Latest News: All educational institutions in Punjab, except government schools, will open as usual from Monday, September 8. However, if any school or college is affected by floods, the decision to keep the institution closed will be in the hands of the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said on Sunday.

School managements of private schools have been instructed to ensure that the school buildings and classrooms are completely safe so that the safety of students and teachers can be ensured.

Punjab Government Schools

On 8th September, all government schools in the state will remain closed for students; however, teachers will be present and have been instructed to carry out cleanliness activities in their respective schools with the help of SMCs, Panchayats, Municipal Councils, and Corporations.

Teachers have also been instructed to conduct a thorough inspection of the school buildings. If any issue or damage is found, it is mandatory for them to immediately report it to the district’s Deputy Commissioner and the Engineering Department.

All government schools will reopen as usual from 9th September.

Private and government schools in the state have been closed since 27 August due to the devastating flood that inundated about 1400 villages in the state, severely affecting daily life, including schools. Many schools have also been affected by the flood. 

The first school closure in the state this monsoon was announced on 27 August, and it was extended to September 3, then to September 7.
