Air India CEO Wilson : No Mechanical, Maintenance, or Fuel Issues in Crash Aircraft — Probe Ongoing
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson Latest News: Air India CEO Campbell Wilson, in a statement released Monday following the publication of the preliminary report on last month’s Air India flight AI 171 crash, said that no mechanical, maintenance, or fuel quality issues were found with the aircraft.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released its preliminary report on July 12, 2025. Following this, Wilson issued a letter to Air India employees, as reported by the Hindustan Times, in which he described the incident as “a period in which not a moment has gone by without thinking of the passengers, friends, colleagues, and wider community who were lost or injured.”
“The release of the preliminary report marked the point at which we, along with the world, began receiving additional details about what took place. Unsurprisingly, it provided both greater clarity and opened additional questions,” Wilson wrote in the internal communication.
He further noted that, “The preliminary report found no mechanical or maintenance issues with the aircraft or engines, and that all mandatory maintenance tasks had been completed. There was no issue with the quality of fuel and no abnormality with the take-off roll. The pilots had passed their mandatory pre-flight breathalyser tests, and there were no concerns regarding their medical status.”
Wilson also emphasized, “Out of an abundance of caution and under the oversight of the DGCA, every Boeing 787 aircraft operating in our fleet was checked within days of the accident, and all were found fit for service.”
He assured that Air India continues to perform all necessary safety checks and will comply with any new protocols suggested by authorities.
Urging restraint, the airline chief said, “The investigation is far from over. Until a final report is tabled, there will undoubtedly be new rounds of speculation and sensational headlines. We must nevertheless remain focused on our task.”
Wilson concluded by reaffirming Air India’s core values,“Let us not be diverted from what are our top priorities: standing by the bereaved and those injured, working together as a team, and delivering a safe and reliable air travel experience to our customers around the world.”
