A 20-year-old woman of Punjab origin has joined the local police in Italy, bringing pride to her family and the wider Punjabi community. Sukhman Kaur, who traces her roots to Nikki Miani village in Kapurthala district, has been recruited into the Polizia Locale in Milan after clearing the required examinations.
She is currently living in Tortona, in the Alessandria province of Italy, along with her parents, Palwinder Singh and Harjit Kaur. According to her father, Sukhman Kaur moved to Italy at the age of two and completed her early education there. He said that her selection was the result of her hard work and dedication.
Sukhman Kaur said that the support and prayers of her parents played an important role in her achievement. Her family members expressed happiness over her success and described it as a proud moment for the family.
Bhai Balkar Singh Ghoreshahwan, a relative of the family associated with Gurdwara Singh Sabha Flero, also welcomed her selection. He said that youth living abroad should focus on education and aim for responsible positions. He added that such achievements bring glory to Punjab and inspire others in the community.
