Violence is not an appropriate response to Trump's policies

Assassination attacks on presidents and political leaders in the US are nothing new, but the manner in which President Donald Trump was targeted on Saturday night was truly dangerous and brazen. The attempt took place in the presence of about 2,700 guests at the Hilton Hotel near the White House in the national capital, Washington, DC. These guests included Trump, his wife Melania, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, top Trump administration officials, dozens of other prominent Americans, and hundreds of journalists. This event, hosted by the White House Correspondents Association, is an annual event. Trump came to attend it for the first time during his second term as president. He had boycotted the first two annual events during his tenure on the grounds that the media did not take his statements seriously and had been criticizing him as 'unreasonable' and 'unjustified'. But this time, due to his steadily declining reputation and popularity among the general public due to the 'unnecessary' war with Iran, he made attending this dinner and 'meeting the journalist community casually' his top priority. It is worth noting that Trump prefers to spend time at his estate in Florida instead of Washington on Saturday and Sunday. This time, he preferred to stay in Washington. The crowded event and the participation of people from many sections of society made it easier for the attacker to plan and execute the attack.

This is the third attack on Trump in the last two years. In 2024, a young sharpshooter opened fire at one of his election rallies, killing a Secret Service agent. One bullet grazed Trump's ear, causing minor injuries. The second time, the shooter was caught with his weapons before one of his rallies. The current attacker has been named as Cole Thomas Allen. He is no slouch. This young man, a resident of California, is well-educated and is known as a mechanical engineer and a good teacher. It is said that this kind of fame was the reason he was invited to attend the Trump event. This invitation proved to be helpful in easily crossing two security barriers. At the third hurdle, he had to fire a shot that hit a security guard, but the guard survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest. America has a long history of assassinations or murderous sympathizers of presidents or presidential candidates. Four presidents who fell victim to assassins were: Abraham Lincoln (1865), James Garfield (1881), William McKinley (1901) and John Kennedy (1963). In 1981, Ronald Reagan was seriously injured in an assassination attack outside the Hilton Hotel in Washington. All this history shows that even the most powerful politicians in the world are not safe from attacks by ruthless assassins, despite all kinds of security measures.

Trump's attacker Cole Allen has accused Trump of betraying Americans and sexually abusing minors, which Trump has called evidence of his 'mental depravity'. Despite such twisted accusations, it is also true that Trump's arbitrariness has greatly increased the number of his critics and opponents. But at the same time, the reality is that there is no place for the politics of violence and killings in a civilized world. Therefore, the trend of resorting to violence should be strongly condemned. For the past 12 months, Trump has been on the path of economically destabilizing almost all the countries of the world and violating global organizations like the United Nations and international laws, but now he has also started realizing that his arbitrariness is hurting America itself. The ways and means of teaching a lesson to dictatorial rulers have always been inherent within the democratic system. These methods have also started showing their colors in the case of Trump.
