Real estate firms have sold 137 land plots in Ujjain district in the last four years.

Land deals: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is currently embroiled in controversies. His image as a clean politician is suddenly starting to look tarnished. An investigation by the media, especially the Indian Express, has revealed that his family members and relatives and real estate firms associated with them have purchased 137 land plots in Ujjain district in the last four years at places where highways and other road projects have come into existence or are coming into existence. The area of ​​the 137 land plots is 168 acres. Therefore, the prices of such land plots have already increased eight times from the time of purchase. These prices are sure to increase further once the construction of highways and roads is completed.

When the family members started buying plots, Mohan Yadav was a cabinet minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet. It is clear that he had inside information about the future planning of Madhya Pradesh, especially the new infrastructure development projects to be started in that state. Such 'secret' information is often limited to a few top government officials and high-ranking politicians. Mohan Yadav took direct advantage of such information. Whatever was done cannot be called illegal in law. The land purchase deals were done as per the government rates and rules. Taxes and stamp duty were also paid in full. There was no attempt to encroach on the neighbouring lands through political influence. Despite such legal justifications, can this entire purchase be considered morally justified?

Mohan Yadav claims that when he did not commit any legal irregularity, why are there allegations against him? In response to the demand for his resignation by Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari and other opposition leaders, the Chief Minister argues that when there is no legal violation, then why resign? His position is justified on the basis that his family is not the only one to buy cheap land and then sell it at a high price. It has become a tradition in all states of the country for members of big political families and families of IAS/IPS/IRS officers to buy land related to the prospects of government projects at a cheap price and later sell it at a price five to ten times higher. In Haryana, the cases of buying land in large quantities before such demarcation in the areas demarcated as the National Capital Territory and then selling it for expensive projects had so much discredited the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government that the Congress lost three consecutive assembly elections. Similarly, the cases related to the above phenomenon in the establishment of Zirakpur and New Chandigarh and the expansion of Mohali city in Punjab, especially the fake guava orchard case and fake and forged CLU, have also become the reason for CBI raids and the basis for Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids. The presence of more than two and a half dozen politicians or high-ranking officers in jails in different parts of the country shows that instead of protecting government secrets, the number of those taking undue advantage of them is increasing day by day.

It is said that such a phenomenon is not limited to India, it is present in every country of the world. In this context, the name of US President Donald Trump is often mentioned; he is because he always makes a deal that increases his business before settling a dispute with any country. Although such immorality is not considered immoral in the US Constitution, still 63 percent of American citizens have expressed their unhappiness and shame against such abuse of power. Since the 'all naked in the bathhouse' scenario exists in India, that is why the state or central government does not feel afraid of labels like 'immoral'. That is why when the Mohan Yadav land case was raised by the Congress, the BJP raised the issue of the land acquired in Bengaluru by Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyank Kharge in a secret manner with the same fervor. Morality or modesty is the foundation of political cleanliness. But today's politics does not agree with this thinking. It feels neither shame nor embarrassment. That is why politicians like Mohan Yadav have been continuously showing such audacity as not to resign.
