Deadly storms and landslide leave dozens dead, hundreds injured across China

Authorities said on Tuesday that weather-related occurrences throughout China had resulted in at least 11 fatalities and 331 injuries.

According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged all-out efforts to plan flood emergency rescue, disaster assistance, and medical care for the injured on Tuesday.

According to provincial disaster management authorities, 11 people were killed and one was reported missing on Monday night when tornadoes, thunderstorms, and high-velocity gales struck the eastern portion of Hubei Province.

At least 331 persons were hurt by the extreme weather in three different communities. More than 400 locals have been moved to secure locations. The report states that 4,855 buildings were damaged and 22 buildings were destroyed by the extreme weather.
In addition, early on Tuesday, a landslide occurred in a township in Tanchang County, Longnan City, in the Gansu Province of northwest China.

It is estimated that 33 persons are buried, of whom 17 have been retrieved thus far. According to Xinhua, full-scale search and rescue efforts are in progress.
