Schools shut in Bageshwar and Rudraprayag as bad weather continues.

Uttarakhand witnessed the effects of rain for the third consecutive day. This morning, landslide incidents occurred in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Uttarkashi, disrupting the Char Dham Yatra route. In Uttarkashi, traffic was disrupted on the Yamunotri National Highway (NH-134) near Janki Chatti after debris and rocks fell from a hillside.

Meanwhile, following a landslide incident on the Kedarnath pilgrimage route in Rudraprayag, pilgrims are being barred from proceeding beyond Sonprayag as a precautionary measure. In Chamoli too, the Badrinath Highway has been affected at several places due to debris accumulation. The Pokhari-Rudraprayag motor road near Guniyala Khal remains closed. The concerned agencies are working to clear the route.

In addition, the Meteorological Department has forecast rain, thunder, and storms across most parts of the state. An 'orange alert' for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, and Pithoragarh.

Meanwhile, a 'yellow alert' for heavy rain has been issued for Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Chamoli, Pauri, Tehri, and Udham Singh Nagar. Some areas in these districts may witness intense thunderstorms, lightning, and very heavy rainfall.

Due to bad weather, schools have been declared closed today in Bageshwar and Rudraprayag. In Uttarkashi, the Yamunotri Highway has been shut after debris accumulated near Poligad, Durbil, Badhiyar, and Hanumanchatti. Machinery has been deployed to clear the debris from the roads.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been put on standby so they may be sent out right away if necessary, he continued. The official urged pilgrims to exercise patience and adhere to the administration's instructions, stating that travel on the trek route would not resume until it was deemed totally safe.
