Pilgrims moved to safe locations as PWD teams work to clear debris and restore route

On the Kedarnath hike route, the landslide happened close to Chhodi, around one kilometer past Gaurikund, obstructing the trail with boulders and debris, according to officials.
After learning of the landslide, pilgrims were promptly stopped in secure sites, said District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, to protect their safety.

In order to restore traffic along the highway, he said workers from the Public Works Department (PWD) and other relevant departments arrived at the location and started clearing the debris.

According to Rajwar, teams from the District Disaster Management Authority and the police are conducting relief and safety operations while keeping a close eye on the situation. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been put on standby so they may be sent out right away if necessary, he continued.
The official urged pilgrims to exercise patience and adhere to the administration's instructions, stating that travel on the trek route would not resume until it was deemed totally safe.
