Heavy rain in Himachal and Uttarakhand pushes up Yamuna's water level; Irrigation Department on alert

The impact of continuous heavy rainfall in the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is now becoming visible on the Yamuna river. Due to the rain, the inflow of water into the river is steadily increasing, and in view of this, the water level at the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar is expected to rise during the night. The Irrigation Department is fully alert to the situation. Department officials are closely monitoring the amount of water arriving at the barrage. Every change in the water level is being continuously tracked so that appropriate steps can be taken in time if needed. Officials say that the situation is currently under control, but given the ongoing rainfall in the upper regions, no possibility is being ignored.

The administration has also appealed to people living along the riverbank and those visiting the areas around the Yamuna to remain alert. In particular, young people and villagers have been asked not to enter the river and to avoid unnecessarily going close to the river's flow. If there is a sudden rise in the water level, the administration will issue the necessary guidelines and instructions.
