Sumit Gaur allegedly shot his mother Usha Devi during a drug-related argument in Rishikesh
A domestic dispute turned violent in Rishikesh, Dehradun, where a 32-year-old man shot his 63-year-old mother. Police said that the incident occurred late Sunday night at the Pashulok Displaced Colony. After the incident, the accused, Sumit Gaur (32), himself took his mother, Usha Devi (63), to AIIMS hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Police have clarified that Devi's condition is now stable.
The accused, Sumit Gaur, is allegedly a drug addict, and his mother was trying to stop him from using drugs. During the argument that followed, the man shot his mother with a 12-bore country-made pistol, causing a severe injury to her forehead.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim's elder son, Amit. Police have taken the accused into custody and initiated questioning.
