Amritsar CI busts 2 drug smuggling networks, nabs 3 accused; 25 Kg heroin recovered

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated on Monday that the Amritsar Counter-intelligence (CI) branch has disrupted two drug smuggling networks, arrested three suspected smugglers, and confiscated 25 kg of heroin.

The suspects were identified as Mangal Singh and Baljit Singh, who both live in Bhodiwala village in Moga, and Akashdeep Singh, a native of Khemkaran in Tarn Taran who presently resides in Kherabad in Amritsar. Additionally, an automobile with an Uttar Pradesh registration number that was being utilized for drug smuggling was seized by the police. According to Yadav, two drug smugglers, Mangal Singh and Baljit Singh, were apprehended during the second operation as they were en route to deliver the narcotics shipment in their vehicle. On the Amritsar-Chabal GT Road, the vehicle was stopped at a naka. Heroin were found during the car search.

According to DGP Yadav, preliminary investigations showed that the accused were involved in gathering heroin shipments from various areas and distributing them to other parts around the state. Under the NDPS Act, a formal complaint has been filed at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar.
